A large private estate in New Hope, AL — a two-story colonial farmhouse with wraparound porches, a flagstone walkway, a horse barn, and outbuildings spread across a sweeping property backed by the North Alabama ridgeline. PSI OFF Pressure Washing was brought in to clean the whole thing.

What We Cleaned

This was a full property exterior cleaning across multiple structures:

• House soft wash — white shiplap siding on a two-story home, including the full wraparound porch exterior and upper-story walls
• Wraparound porch — flagstone floor, column bases packed with cobwebs and debris, porch ceiling and trim
• Gutter cleaning — black oxidation streaks running down the gutters removed from all sides of the house
• Metal roof — cleaned across the entire complex roof system
• Exterior window cleaning — French doors and multiple window banks cleaned inside-out
• Barn soft wash — white board siding, metal roof, gutter lines, and column areas on the horse barn
• Secondary deck — composite deck boards cleaned on the side porch

The Challenge

On a property this large, the challenge isn't just the work — it's matching the right method to every surface across two major structures.

The white shiplap siding on the house looked clean from a distance. Up close, the column bases and porch areas had significant cobweb accumulation, debris packed into corners, and the kind of biological buildup that only comes from years of a shaded, humid environment. The gutters had the familiar North Alabama black oxidation streaking running down their faces.

The barn presented the same picture — a beautiful structure with a weather vane cupola and metal roof that needed careful attention. Board siding, gutter lines, and the roofline all needed cleaning without damage to the structure.

The flagstone porch floor and walkway carried staining and organic growth worked into the stone texture — a surface where the wrong pressure or too-wide a fan pattern would strip the mortar.

Our Approach

The house and barn siding were treated with soft washing — the only right choice for white painted wood on a property this well-maintained. High pressure pressure washing would have forced water behind boards and risked the paint finish. Soft washing broke down biological buildup at the root and rinsed clean without any surface risk.

The metal roof on both the house and barn was treated with the same low-pressure approach consistent with our roof cleaning service — no walking the panels, no pressure that could compromise fasteners or flashing.

The flagstone porch and walkway were handled with calibrated lower pressure and a narrow fan to lift staining without disturbing the mortar joints. The composite deck boards on the side porch needed a different setting still — enough to clean without etching the surface.

Gutter streak removal and the harder trim areas used more direct power washing where the surface could take it. Windows and French doors were finished by hand.

The Results

Aerial photos after the job tell the story better than anything else. The house, the barn, and the full property all came back to bright white — the kind of clean that makes a well-maintained estate look like it just arrived.

The porch went from cobwebbed and debris-filled to the kind of space you want to sit in. The barn matched the house. The gutters were streak-free. The windows were clear. One crew, one day, every structure on the property.
